Spices are the most important ingredients in Indian cuisine. In the mid 1940s, as the British prepared to leave India, trade in agriculture products was on a decline. Considering these two factors, Vithaldas Mehta took up the challenge of helping the spice farmers sell their goods. Thus paving the way for his firm, Jagruti Agency.
In 1955, Natubhai Mehta, the youngest son of Vithaldas Mehta, entered into the business. Under the mentorship of his brother, Vrajlal Mehta, Natubhai established Vrajlal Brothers as a major player in the Spices, Dry fruits & Betel nuts market. By 1973, the annual turnover of the company rocketed to Rs. 50 crores.
This encouraged his son, Hitendra Mehta, to foray into the company founded by his grandfather. In 1990, the father-son duo formed the new company Agro Products Enterprises to reach new heights. They helped many exporters of Indonesia, Thailand & Sri Lanka to open up the Betulnuts market in India. After 50 years in the business, Natubhai decided to call it a day.
Since the past 25 years, Agro Products Enterprises has been professionally managed by Hiten and his expert team.
